Doctors are nothing more than educated guessers. They take your symptoms and test results and guess at what’s wrong. Most of the time they are right, however they have been wrong. It was the patients decision to waste all of his money and die with a bunch of debt, not the doctors. If I were in that situation. I would get a second opinion and start an aggressive treatment. i would also plan my deth and make sure that I have no debt for my children to deal with. Make my death the easiest I could on their behalf.
If I was told I was terminally ill, basically guaranteed that I would die, I’d do something very similar to that guy.
Cash in a portion on my life insurance (leave enough for my wife), and enjoy the rest of my life. Do things that I want to do before I die. Visit Ireland, skydive etc. etc.
Then I come back and am told that, oops, we were wrong. You’re actually going to live!
I am now without life insurance. Through no fault of my own. The hospital should definitely pay.
