  1. no, insurance wont cover it

you are responsibile for the maintainence of the car

  2. absolutely not. insurance doesnt cover mechnically issues… regardless of whether or not they total your vehicle.

  3. Only a Warranty by the seller/dealer, will cover this, if it does. Not insurance. You will need to find out if ou got an extended warranty.

  4. Insurance policies exclude damage for wear and tear. Odds are, your insurance will not pay for this.

An insurance policy pays for physical damage that is directly caused by an incident that is sudden and accidental. Is this damage, sudden and accidental? Does not sound like it.

Here’s an example - you are driving down the road and hit a deer causing damage to the front of your car. You decide to continue driving the vehicle and the temperature light comes on. You put water in the engine and decide to drive the car to the dealership 25 miles away. On the way to the dealership, the engine locks up and now has to be replaced.

The insurance company would pay for the damage caused by the direct collision with the deer under your comprehensive coverage (fender, hood, headlight etc).

The engine would not be covered. The collision with the deer did not cause that - your driving the car after the collision with the deer caused the damage to the engine. Most likely, the insurance company will deny the engine.

Hindsight being 20/20, it probably would have been a better idea to have the car towed to the dealership rather than put water in it and drive it. You don’t fool around with an engine that is over heating.

  5. Read your policy (please..). Mechanical failure and / or breakdown is NOT covered.

  6. THEY MIGHT BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN MANY OF MY CUSTOMERS IN THE SAME SITUATION THAT WERE COVERED.

THE VEHICLE WILL NEED TO BE INSPECTED AND THEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL MAKE THEIR DECISION (EXAMPLE IF A HOSE BLOWS AND BURNS UP THE ENGINE THEY SOMETIMES DO PAY FOR THIS).
